drives on private & public transportation to work & play, we
Americans--4% of the world's population--consume 24% of the
world's energy. So the choice is ours: Continue our
heavy reliance on traditional fossil-fueled sources, usually
foreign, and pay the escalating price in more ways than 100...or
step up to supporting--vocally and financially--the research,
development and market-availability of alternative fuels.
Some steps will be small, tactical
and
immediate. Others must be strategic and far-reaching. But
sticking our heads in the oil-rich foreign sand will not make
our problem go away.
